Memorandum of Agreement For Exchange Signed with NTU

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Nanyang Technological University signed the Memorandum of Agreement for Student Exchange Programme.

On 20 December 2019, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) signed the Memorandum of Agreement for Student Exchange Programme. According to the agreement, starting from Fall Semester in 2020, CUHK-Shenzhen and NTU will conduct student exchange with the quota of 12 per year and the selected students will study at the host university for one semester.

 

Prof. Shiping Zhu, Vice President of CUHK-Shenzhen and Prof. Louis Phee, Dean of NTU College of Engineering, on behalf of Prof. San Ling, Provost and Vice President of NTU signed the agreement. Prof. Yonggang Wen, Associate Dean College of Engineering, Prof. Xiaodong Chen, President Chair Professor of School of Materials Science & Engineering from NTU, Prof. Zhiquan Luo, Vice President, Prof. Jianwei Huang, Associate Dean of School of Science and Engineering, and NTU alumni who are now working at CUHK-Shenzhen: Prof. Zhenglong Sun, Dr. Han Ling, Dr. Dongxu Ji witnessed the Signing Ceremony.

During the ceremony, Prof. Zhiquan Luo expressed his warm welcome to the guests. He reviewed the discussion of the collaboration during his visit to NTU in October and he hoped that both universities could work together in different areas and programmes in the future. Prof. Phee’s said: “CUHK-Shenzhen and NTU share a lot of virtues and values. I myself like this campus very much and I believe that our students would love this campus as well. I sincerely welcome CUHK-Shenzhen students to come to study with us in Singapore soon”. The representatives on both sides agreed to further discuss and explore other potential collaboration including research collaboration, Faculty Sharing, International Academic Seminar and 3+2 Bachelor-Master Arrangement.

After the ceremony, the NTU delegation paid a visit to CUHK-Shenzhen’s Library, Key Lab of Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing and Shenzhen Research Institute of Big Data.

 

Founded in 1981, as one of the world's most prestigious universities, Nanyang Technological University is highly recognized for its breadth of academic programmes and excellent achievement in research. According to the 2020 QS World University Rankings, NTU ranks 11th in the world. 14 of NTU’s subjects are ranked in top 20 worldwide, including Material Sciences, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Environmental Studies, Social Science and Management.

 

Up to now, CUHK-Shenzhen has established partnerships with the top three universities in Singapore. Apart from the student exchange programme with NTU, the collaboration with Singaporean universities also includes: 3+2 Bachelor Master Arrangement with the National University of Singapore in the subjects of Statistics, New Energy Science and Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering. Started since January 2019, CUHK-Shenzhen has sent out the first cohort of 10 students to attend the programme in August. In addition, the agreement of 4+1 Bachelor Master Arrangement with Singapore Management University in Accounting major was signed in July 2019 and 3 students have been selected to participate in the programme in December.
