Exchange Students Experienced Maker Faire Shenzhen
Organized by the Office of Academic Links, some exchange students visited the Maker Faire Shenzhen on October 12th, 2018. The Maker Faire Shenzhen is the largest platform for maker exhibition, interaction and communication in China. During the fair, participants introduced the latest maker projects, products and innovations to the public. Students were pleased to have this opportunity and some of them would like to share their impressions of this event:
@Marco Mangili:
The Shenzhen Maker Faire is a gathering of interesting tech and non-tech companies that together have one thing in common: forward thinking. I had the best time doing amazing things there, such as creating a wallet out of plastic waste, writing a message that will be shipped to space, and learning how fish and plants can live in a perfectly balanced bio-system. You can even remotely control a toy car only with your mind!
If you want to know how the future will look like, the faire is worth a visit!
@Federica Palma:
It was a very interesting experience because we were able to get acquainted with many innovative projects ranging from plastic recycling to virtual reality glasses. The Faire was very interactive and we had a lot of fun playing around in the different stands. Fortunately the language barrier was not a problem and all the presenters were very engaging with us, willing to explain their creation and ideas.
I suggest upcoming exchange students to attend the event!
@Linda Bilancioni:
This fair was the best way to appreciate the technological innovation of China. We could experiment something new in every exhibition stand, from the machine to fight plastic pollution to the electronic skateboard. Everything was so engaging and fun. I loved the stand with the little children creating music with their technological instrument. They were so young and already so smart, I was really impressed. Spending some hours of my International experience there made me closer to the Chinese culture.
