First Batch of Graduate Students Enrolled
Congratulations on Enrollment of Initial Graduate Students of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen
In September, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (“University”) welcomed its first batch of graduate students along with hundreds of freshmen undergraduate students. These graduate students will study in finance engineering, translation, and simultaneous interpreting.
At the orientation ceremony, President Yangsheng Xu, Vice president Tom Luo and Director of Graduate School Xiaoqiang Cai shared their own study and life experiences. Professor Xu encouraged them to keep on asking questions in their pursuit of knowledge; Professor Luo suggested that they be dedicated and detail-driven, leaving no stone unturned; Profrssor Cai hoped that they have big dreams and work hard to achieve them. Two Vice Presidents Joe Qin and KC. Yuen as well as more than 20 professors were also present at the orientation ceremony.
To celebrate this historic moment, university officials also unveiled a plaque inscribed with “贺香港中文大学(深圳)首届研究生入学”.
In order to help students better adapt to the campus life, the Registry Office, Administrative Services Office as well as other functional departments briefed the students on facilities and resources available on the campus.
The University has also initiated plans to prepare the students for internship opportunities. Industry cooperation alliances and advisory committees have been formed to help those studying in Finance Engineering; real-life translation or interpreting events have been combined with conventional classroom instruction to provide the T & I students with the field experiences in addition to theoretical studies. Industry professionals will be invited over to provide regular mentorship activities as well.
