At 14.30 on September 25, Open Rain teamed up with Shenzhen Project Care to carry out voluntary activities for children patients of Shenzhen Children's Hospital. Activities included messaging games, making a to-do list for future, and drawing the future blueprint. During the interaction and exchange, children built friendships with each other, and volunteers brought accompany and warmth to children, touched by their purity and love.

Open Rain is a non-profit organization founded by Diligentia College, and it is aimed at guiding students to actively contribute their efforts to the society, and promoting students’ sense of responsibility and public welfare through in-depth understanding and participation in various public welfare activities, and solving various social problems. It's new, passionate, and vigorous. On the shuttle bus started from in the start-up square, O. R. volunteers, with carefully prepared gifts, were looking forward to their first meeting with the children.

Three activities were massaging games, making a to-do list for future, and drawing the future blueprint. The volunteers wanted to build friendships with children, alleviate their physical pain, and make them feel happy. After the introduction, the volunteers divided the children into two groups by their age. In the massaging games, the message for younger group was” I want to grow up”, and for the older was “With spring and fall they come and go.” The volunteers sat with the children, and patiently encouraged some introverted children. In the end, both two groups spoke the massage successfully. Children's face wearing happy smile, the volunteers were satisfied. When showing their drawings, children described their future with a brush “This is George and Mom.” V-care was filled with laughter and applause.

Company is the Simplest Happiness

It is worth mentioning that because of the particularity of children patients' condition, they were not able to run, jump etc. When volunteers played games with them, it is necessary to take care of them, even a handshaking should be careful. Volunteers were sad about children patients’ weakness, and were determined to protect their happiness. “A life full with love, just as a full glass of wine.” We have the right to be loved, and we need to cultivate the ability to love others. The love torch delivered to the children in pain provided warmth and company, and the pure smile and the full movement of the children are harvested.

A Life Full with Love

Volunteers’ Voice

The “Tencent Care Space” in the hospital is like an oasis in the vast desert, which is a soothing and future hope for children being treated. Here, we are in touch with some of the young children, looking at their young face and eyes full of curious, and considering that they are suffering from pain. It is heartbreaking. We cannot suffer the pain for them, but they can be involved in a series of activities, so as to forget the pain and to be happy. From strangers to friends, from refusal to exchange ideas to active introduction of their works, speaking out their dreams and extending thanks to the audience. In a short hour, through love and care, we are glad to see their change and growth. I wish them to be able to recover as early as possible and realize dreams when they grow up.

These children patients are mostly between 2 and 4 years old, and some are too young to speak. With arms wrapped around the medical wrist band, they looked at the volunteers with curiosity. On their face, there is no sadness but purity. A little boy impressed me. He told me that he wanted a high-speed toy train as a present, and he drew a train with a pen. He said he would like to be a policeman when he grew up and drive the high-speed train to work. His bed was in A05 and he’d have a surgery tomorrow, but he's not afraid at all because his father would be with him. Visit, sympathy, and care, are all love and power. Even in the coldest night, there is warmth and comfort; even in the most desperate winter, there is bright sunshine.

The most impressed thing to me is that the children's learning methods are becoming more and more diverse. Although they are much younger than we are, we know less in some areas than they do. They learn what they really like: astronomy, computer, art, and pianos. All of these are the things they're interested in, and I'm envious. Their parents do not force them to be excellent in their study but to cultivate their children’s interests and let them explore along the way. I believe they will grow happily and achieve success in the areas they are interested in. Finally, hope they can get rid of pains as soon as possible, and forge ahead along the path they like.
