The High Table Dinner of Muse College in Autumn 2018 has come to a successful end. Let's recollect the precious memories of the High Table Dinner of Muse College in Autumn 2018!

High Table Dinner of Muse College in Autumn 2018 was held on November 14th, 2018. It was held in the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen Longgang City Centre.

Owing to the fact that the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen Longgang City Centre is far from our university, Muse College prepared twelve buses to ensure students’ safety. With warm sunshine surrounding Muse, students enjoyed themselves before High Table Dinner. Two hours before High Table Dinner, students with formal suits and dresses were waiting in line to get on the bus.

Arriving at the Crowne Plaza Shenzhen Longgang City Centre, students enjoyed delicious tea break and communicated with each other. Students took photos to memorize this valuable moment.

With the inspiring music and the applause of the students, distinguished guests for the Muse College high table dinner were warmly welcome.

Thanks to the generous donation of Mr. Lai Hoi Man and Ms. Chen Siting, Muse College was established as the third college of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, with a “THINK” culture to encourage students to think constantly, critically and gratefully. Located on the upper campus, our college is surrounded by peaceful hills and mountains. The image of the mountain, in Chinese culture, symbolizes broad and aspiring minds, which are indeed the qualities that we Musers very much admire.

The comperes for High Table Dinner were Sun Yuansen, a sophomore from School of Science and Engineering and Xu Jingwen, a sophomore from School of Management and Economics. They are both from Muse College. To promote the idea and practice of whole-person education with equal emphasis on knowledge, skills and value, Muse College initiated some activity series such as Unifun Workshop, Equote Salon, Muse Lecture and Muser Action.

In the company of honorable guests, we are here at the Muse High Table dinner, where graceful western etiquette and exquisite eastern culture blend. The spirit of Muse, along with the delicate dinner, will linger on for the many years to come.

Prof. David Chen, Master of Muse College, took this opportunity to deliver a welcome speech. Prof. Chen was glad to welcome distinguished guests and students to participate in High Table Dinner of Muse College in Autumn 2018. By talking in a humorous way, Prof. Chen introduced “Three Great Stars” of Lai’s Family and showed his gratitude to Mr.Lai Hoi Man and Ms.Chen Siting for their generous donation. Prof. Chen gave an introduction of High Table Dinner Culture and broadened students’ horizon of High Table Dinner. At the end of the speech, students applauded to express their sincere appreciation. Prof. Chen wished students to have an unforgettable night.

This year marks the milestone in the grand history of China’s reform and opening-up over the past 40 years as well as the third year of Muse College. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee in 1978, China has ushered in new opportunities and challenges. Once upon a time, Shenzhen was just a small fishing village, but now it has become one of the most innovative cities in China and in the world. The prosperity of Shenzhen is an important historical witness of China’s reform and opening-up. At the special night, it was our great honor and privilege to have a special guest to enlighten us with the retrospect and prospect of the 40-year reform and opening-up in China. Students warmly welcomed the former president of Ling Nan University, Professor Chen Kwan-yiu to share his wisdom and insights on reform and opening-up.

Prof. Chen thought it was proper to use “Unimaginable” to describe how rapidly Shenzhen has developed. Not only because of correct guidance of the development strategy, Prof. Chen thought Shenzhen was strongly promoted by the Beijing Consensus. Prof. Chen encouraged people to “Do things in the right order and in the right sequences.” China’s reform and opening-up was developed in the right sequences. Timing is also important. Prof. Chen was in hope that Chinese economics will develop better and stronger. Students was so much enlightened with Prof. Chen’s words.

Students welcomed Vice President Mr. KC Yuen to present a souvenir to Professor Chen Kwan-yiu on behalf of Muse College.

President Yuen proposed a toast to the bright future of Muse College. As the clock has stroke seven, students began to enjoy the delicate dinner. Meanwhile, several Musers gave their wonderful performance. Students all had a magnificent evening. Members of folk music group were welcomed to perform a few beautiful pieces.

Time flies, and the Muse College high table dinner this evening was also coming to an end. May every one of us be able to recall this unforgettable night after many years.
