1230 Outstanding Students about to Start a New Journey in Shenzhen

The 2019 undergraduate admissions of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was completed on July 22nd, witnessing an ever-growing quality of admitted students.

The 2019 undergraduate admissions of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was completed on July 22nd, witnessing an ever-growing quality of admitted students. This year, the University has enrolled a total of 1,230 undergraduate students from 25 provinces, municipalities or autonomous regions in mainland China, among which 636 students were admitted based on their performance in the National College Entrance Examination (also known as Gaokao), 557 through CUHK-Shenzhen's Comprehensive Evaluation, and 37 through the University's foreign-language-studies student recommendation policy.

 

This marks the sixth summer since CUHK-Shenzhen first started its undergraduate admissions. The overall admission scores of 2019 (mostly Gaokao-based) have taken a further leap thanks to a growing recognition of the University's innovative systems and education philosophy by stduents and parents across the nation, as well as the exceptionally exellent performances achieved by our first two classes of baccalaureate graduates. 

 

CUHK-Shenzhen top among universities in Guangdong for four consecutive years.

 

Among admitted arts students this year, the lowest Gaokao score  stood at 618, ranking among top 0.22% (708th) of the 312,000 arts candidates in the province and with 72 points above the key universities' threshold.

 

Among admitted science students, the lowest score reached 636, ranking top 0.56% (1902nd) of the 342,000 science candidates in the province with 141 points above the key universities' threshold. 

 

Compared with the admission scores of other well-known Chinese universities which enroll students in Guangdong, CUHK-Shenzhen ranked 15th in science and 11th in arts.

 

This year, CUHK-Shenzhen admitted a total of 279 students from Guangdong, among which a large proportion come from Shenzhen and its nearby city Guangzhou.

 

 

CUHK-Shenzhen's interdisciplinary programme, Financial Engineering (Quantitative Finance and FinTech concentrations),  jointly offered by SME and SSE, has become the most popular choice for students, as it is well in line with the demand for compound talents under the current economic development.

 

Other programmes offered by the School of Science and Engineering (SSE), such as Computer Science and Engineering,Electronic Information Engineering,Financial Mathematics, Statistical Science, Bioinformatics, and Biomedical Science and Engineering, have also attracted a large number of students.

 

For the School of Management and Economics (SME), its traditional programmes such as Finance, Economics, Global Business Studies and Professional Accountancy remain a hit among students. Translation and the newly-launched Applied Psychology programme offered by the School of Humanities and Social Science (HSS) has also received great attention this year.
