Prof. Li Xuejin Observing the Spallation Neutron Source
Professor Cai Xiaoqiang, the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, Professor Li Xuejin, Associate Vice President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) paid a visit to the Spallation Neutron Source in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, on December 17th. They received warm welcome from Chen Yuanbai, the executive director of the Institute of High Energy Physics and Director of the Dongguan branch and other local officials. The CUHK (SZ) group visited the spallation neutron source model followed with an on-site forum.
In the meeting, the two sides watched a promotional video of neutron source, Director Chen Yuanbai introduced the progress of the spallation neutron source project, the principle of work and its prospect. The two sides also discussed about cooperation in the future.
Professor Li Xuejin stressed that given the closeness of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and the spallation neutron source geographically, the two sides should strengthen their relationship and exchange ideas and have cooperation at multiple levels.
Professor Cai Xiaoqiang was also optimistic about a wide cooperation between the sides in the research field of system engineering and data processing, hoping that the spallation neutron source could promote the curriculum construction at CHUK (SZ) and comprehensively improve the overall level of scientific research at the university.
After the meeting, the CUHK (SZ) observers continued visiting the testing hall, the target station spectrometer unit area, the linear accelerator tunnel construction site. Both parties agreed that they would sign an agreement as soon as possible to carry out a full range of strategic cooperation.
