To express his gratitude, President Xu presented Mr. Zhang a certificate of appreciation and an oil painting extolling the virtues of honesty and compassion on behalf of the University.

Professor Xu told his guests that one of the purposes to found the University is to support the long term development of Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta region and to nurture high end talent equipped with professional knowledge and global perspective to meet the needs of social and economic development in this region. “We want the University to contribute to the overall development of the city. We want it to become a city university, benefiting businesses and peoples residing in the city. We want to see the University to interact with those enterprises and peoples,” Professor Xu said.

Mr. Zhang also expressed his desire to become a good CSR citizen as education is the basis on which a nation is to rise up and prosper. We have learned that Jinxin Group has donated over RMB10 million to support projects in poverty alleviation, college, middle school and elementary education, and culture and arts. The total number of beneficiaries has amounted up to hundreds of thousands of people.

Mr. Li, a new student, is one of them. He was pretty impressed with the University’s collegiate system, general education courses and a humanity based educational philosophy; however, the annual tuition fee of RMB95, 000 was too much for his family. “I thought of giving up my dream. Then the University’s Education Foundation came to my rescue and agreed to give me the scholarship. I will cherish the opportunity, study hard and pay back to society one of these days,” Mr. Li commented.

It is said that 100 freshmen have been awarded entrance scholarships in 2016, and 21 of those from poverty stricken regions have received a total of RMB4.2 million scholarship grants over a period of four years.
