Donation Ceremony at CUHK(SZ)
Since its establishment in March 2014, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, has received tremendous care and support from all walks of life. We have welcomed our first cohort of over 300 undergraduates from 17 provinces and municipalities including students from remote areas and poor families.
Taking social responsibility seriously, which is at the heart of our academic life, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, offers a number of admission scholarships to local and non-local new undergraduate students in need. To help more qualified students in pursuit of their dreams, we welcome donation and patronage from businesses and private individuals.
At the GENZON Scholarship Donation Ceremony held on Jan. 21 on CUHKSZ campus, Prof. XU Yangsheng, President of the University presented a certificate of appreciation to Mr. DENG Xueqin, the donor and President of the Genzon Group, in acknowledging the continued support of the Genzon Group for CUHKSZ. Students benefited from GENZON Scholarship in 2014 academic year made a group presentation to show the many facets of their school life.
The Education Foundation of CUHKSZ was established in Aug. 2014, in an effort to provide financial support to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic or non-academic performance. Underprivileged students with good potential also have access to financial aid which is renewable for the normative period of study subject to satisfactory academic progress.
“Education is not merely a matter of the government’s concern,” said Prof. Xu, “it is primarily a matter of concern to the society. We therefore encourage non-governmental sector from society to cooperate in school-running.”
“Pass on our knowledge, and pass on love,” Prof. Xu pointed out, “Today a beneficiary, tomorrow a sponsor. We hope, in return, each of our supported student grow up with a global vision, learned in the disciplines they follow, upright in character, and committed to serving the needs of society in the future.”
