People usually eat it at the Lantern Festival. People in the north and south have different methods in “rolling" dumplings. On the 15th day of the first month, people celebrate the festival by having different customs. In this Lantern Festival, RSADC prepared the raw materials for making dumplings, waiting for the arrival of the Diligentia elves. Zhou Zeyue, the member in the Activity Department of RSADC, is good at making delicious food. He volunteered to take up the role of chef, teaching students how to make dumplings.
It was getting darker but everyone was engaged in the hustle and bustle atmosphere. The light in the kitchen on the second floor of Diligentia B was shining with gentle light. Around 7:15, the students couldn't wait to prepare for making dumplings. Mr. Zhou began his gentle explanation and guidance. Sesame stuffing, glutinous rice flour, black sesame seeds, red yeast powder and other materials and kitchen utensils were ready. Students mixed flour with water, kneaded the dough, stirred the food color, pinched pig’s nose and ears on dumplings, picked the sesame seeds, happy and busy. Mr. Hou Shuozhao and Ms. Hong Mingyan participated in our party with their child. A variety of dumplings were made by whimsy, far beyond piggy sweet dumplings.
Under the guidance of Chef Zhou, we made pretty sweet dumplings. These piggy dumplings were quietly lying in the pot, licking the eyes of small black sesame seeds and rolling up and down in boiling water. The steam were lingering, and the white jade-like glutinous rice coat was faintly revealing the colour of cyan, which was the temptation of sesame filling. The softness was wrapped in sweetness. Yummy! RSADC wishes everyone can learn from these sweet dumplings: diving to the deep and becoming mature gradually. See you in next Potluck Party!
