Review | Delegates from CUHK Shenzhen attended the memorial service of Mrs. Mona Shaw

When CUHK-Shenzhen was still under planning, Sir Run Run Shaw generously provided the funding for the establishment of Shaw College, the first college in CUHK-Shenzhen. As the director the Shaw Foundation Hong Kong, Mrs. Mona Shaw was invited to inaugurate Shaw College last year.

Thanks to the support of Sir Run Run Shaw and Mrs. Mona Shaw, CUHK-Shenzhen is developing rapidly.

Mrs. Mona Shaw passed away peacefully at Hong Kong Sannatorium & Hospital at the age of 83. The memorial service of Mrs. Mona Shaw was held on December 12 at Shaw Movie City in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong. President of CUHK-Shenzhen Prof. Xu Yangsheng, Master of Shaw College Prof. Janny Leung, Director of Human Resources Office Ms. Agatha Kan, and Deputy Director of the Foundation of CUHK-Shenzhen Richard Li as well as some staff and students from Shaw College attended the service.

On behalf of all staff and students from CUHK-Shenzhen, President Xu and Master Leung as well as the attending delegates presented a wreath for the service. Shaw College staff also prepared a memorial book with the inscription of President Xu, Vice President Yuen and Master Leung.

Delegates of staff, wardens and the parents of students from Shaw College also wrote about their memories and feelings for Mrs. Mona Shaw.

There are over 200 autographs and notes in the memorial book. Master of Shaw College Prof. Janny Leung delivered the book to the sisters of Mrs. Mona Shaw.

My great condolence to Mrs. Mona Shaw and sincerest thanks for her generous support to the establishment of Shaw College in CUHK-Shenzhen!

Her passing is like orchid withering, but her noble spirit will be forever remembered by those who received her generous support like breeze and moonlight that never go away.
